Rebuilding Nepal-Photo Exhibition Kicks off

KATHMANDU, Dec 27: Marking three years of National Reconstruction Authority’s (NRA) establishment, a photo exhibition entitled ‘Rebuilding Nepal’ is being commenced at Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal on Wednesday. Sushil Gyawali, CEO of NRA inaugurated the three-day long photo exhibition.

KATHMANDU, Dec 27: Marking three years of National Reconstruction Authority’s (NRA) establishment, a photo exhibition entitled ‘Rebuilding Nepal’ is being commenced at Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal on Wednesday. Sushil Gyawali, CEO of NRA inaugurated the three-day long photo exhibition. 


 The exhibition is organized by NRA and is co-supported by European Union and Photojournalist Club (PJ). It will continue till December 28.


The main objective of the exhibition is to commemorate the devastation occurred by the mega earth quake in 2015. It will also reflect upon the reconstruction program and assess the benefit of the program on earth quake affected victims, according to a press statement issued by NRA.

The press statement further stated that CEO Gyawali believed the photo exhibitions will bestow additional support to disseminate actual activities of reconstruction aftermath of major earth quake among public. 


CEO Gyawali further said that NRA is collecting data regarding the reconstruction related activities around Dharahara premises. NRA officials have been collecting information on aid and relief materials, rescue, rehabilitation and reconstruction of an open museum. 

The exhibition is classified into four segments. Around 100 photos of earthquake affected districts are displayed. 


In the first segment, the exhibition depicts how earth quake affected people are helping each other in aftermath of the earth quake.  


The second section is about the changes in people after reconstruction and rehabilitation, like reconstruction of public residence, schools, health sector and government buildings and many more. 


In third phase, about two dozen photos related status of buildings and monuments affected by earth quake and their condition after reconstruction, are being showcased.  


Documentaries on reconstruction and re-establishment are shown in the fourth segment of the exhibition. Different reconstruction activities and works are the main focus of the documentaries.
