RCT moves top; Tusal tops group

KATHMANDU, Feb 23: Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) has moved up to the top of its group in the ongoing Martyr’s Memorial ‘B’ Division League with a 2-0 win over Jhamsikhel Youth Club in Lalitpur on Friday.

KATHMANDU, Feb 23: Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) has moved up to the top of its group in the ongoing Martyr’s Memorial ‘B’ Division League with a 2-0 win over Jhamsikhel Youth Club in Lalitpur on Friday. 


In the Group-A match played at the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Complex in Lalitpur, goals from Nawaraj Gurung and Sahil KC helped the team reach the top. 


Gurung gave RCT the lead in the 48th minute, while KC doubled the lead for the team in the final minute of the injury time.

With the win, RCT now has eight points from five games, and is ahead of second-placed Jhamsikhel on a superior +2 goal difference. Likewise, Shree Kumari Club and Satdobato Youth Club are third and fourth respectively with six points respectively, and still fancy their chances to qualify ahead of both RCT and Jhamsikhel with a win. 


In the other game played on the same day, Pulchowk Sports Club came back from being two goals down to hold Group B topper Tusal Youth Club 2-2. 


Karan Rawat and Kashim Rai had given Tusal a commanding 2-0 lead for Tusal in the 13th and the 16th respectively. 


Tika Raj Gurung scored a second half brace to hold Tusal with the goals coming in the 55th and the 85th minutes. 


With the result, Tusal has finished at the top of the Group B with 11 points from five games, while Pulchowk’s chances to enter the second round is mathematically over as it is third and behind Shree Bhagwati Club on goal difference. Madhyapur Youth Association can go over Pulchowk with a win, while Shree Bhagwati’s win will send it to the next round from the second place.
