Rawat, Koirala to vie for title

KATHMANDU, May 3: Ira Rawat and Prerana Koirala are set to vie for the sixth Citizens Bank Open Tennis in women’s singles category on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, May 3: Ira Rawat and Prerana Koirala are set to vie for the sixth Citizens Bank Open Tennis in women’s singles category on Wednesday.  


In the semifinals, Rawat beat Abhilasha Bista 6-3, 6-1, while Koirala defeated Ganga Sharma 6-2, 6-1 to reach the final. Likewise, Jitendra Pariyar and Kamal Bhandari will contest in the final of men’s category as they saw off their respective opponents in the last-four matches played on the same day.

Pariyar overcame Pradeep Khadka 6-1, 6-1, while Bhandari thumped Santosh Khatri 6-3, 6-2 to make it to the final. Also, in men’s doubles, the pair comprising Khatri and Pariyar defeated Niresh Shrestha and Anil Kuikel 6-2, 6-0, while Anil Shahi and Khadka’s pair beat Pranjal Kayashta and Nabin Magar 6-4, 6-4 to reach the final.
