Ratnajit reaches semis in both single and double category

KATHMANDU, Sept 22: Departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club’s Ratnajit Tamang has reached the semifinal of the ongoing Yonex-Sunrise National Open Badminton Tournament in the men’s single category on Friday.


In the first quarterfinal match played at Basundhara’s Badminton Academy Court, Army’s Tamang defeated Nepal Police Club’s Jeevan Acharya 2-0  (21-17, 21-19) to secure the last-four berth.

Similarly, in other quarterfinal matches of the day, Silk Trade’s Prince Dahal defeated Police Club’s Bishnu Katuwal 21-12, 21-13, Army’s Navin Shrestha defeated Bhojpu’s Bikash Shrestha 22-20, 21-13 and Armed Police Force (APF) Club’s Dipesh Dhami defeated Army’s Praful Maharjan 21-9, 21-7 in straight sets to reach the semifinals.


Likewise, in the men’s double category, Armed Police’s Dipesh Dhami and Bijit Thapa, Nepal Police’s Deepak Bohra and Jeevan Acharya, and Army’s couples Ratnajit Tamang and Navin Shrestha and Rukesh Maharjan and Pawin Lingthep won their respective quarterfinal matches to reach the semifinals.


All the four semifinal matches will be played on Saturday.
