KATHMANDU, Dec 18: Ratnajit Tamang and Dipesh Dhami of Tribhuvan Army Club entered the men's singles pre-quarterfinals in the Third Open National Badminton Tournament being held in Kathmandu.

Ratnajit beat Mahendra Dhakal of APF by 21-13, 21-3 and Dipesh thrashed Umesh Dhimal of Dhumbarahi by 21-6, 21-4. Similarly, Sajan Krishna Tamrakar of APF beat his own club mate Suman Limbu 21-16, 21-9 and Sanjib Khadka of Kailali recorded 21-19, 22-20 win over Pankaj Chand of APF in other men's singles matches.
In men's doubles event, the pair of Pankaj Chand and Indra Mahata of APF beat the pair of Ramesh Sharma and Tirtha Malla of Kathmandu by 21-18, 14-21, 21-19. The pair of Ram Rai and Akash Chhantyal, pair of Shambhu Shrestha and Suraj Maharjan of Tribhuvan Army Club, pair of Bhakta Bahadur and Narayan Gautam and the pair of Nir Bikram Devkota and Avishek Gurung were also victorious in the same section.
