Identified bodies have been handed over to families following the required procedures. However, many bodies have been found badly damaged or decomposed, making identification difficult.
Unidentified bodies are being temporarily buried using scientific procedures in a way that will allow future identification through DNA testing.
More than 20,000 personnel from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force continue search and rescue operations despite thick mud along riverbanks, blocked roads and adverse weather. Search efforts are ongoing in hydropower tunnels and riverbank areas, where many people remain missing.
