KC along with Geraldine Werhahn, who has been pursuing a doctorate degree in wolves from Oxford University in the United Kingdom; Pema Rekgin Lama of Bargaun VDC of Humla; Tashi Namgyal Lama and Pema Dorje Lama of Limi were in the team. The team, which studied wild yaks in Gaukhola valley in upper Humla, Sakkakhola valley, Magyurkhola valley, Chakpalunga and Chuwakhola valleys with financial support from The Rufford Foundation of United Kingdom from June to August last year found the rare bird.The team also informed that the rare bird species that they have found has been confirmed as Tibetan Lark by several national and international bird specialists. Among the bird experts confirming the discovery of Tibetan Lark in Nepal include Mrs Carol Inskipp, who is also the writer of Birds of Nepal, renowned ornithologist Dr Per Alstrom of Sweden, Dr KS Gopi, of India, and Nepali bird expert Hem Sagar Baral.
Tibetan lark is mostly found in Tibet, Ladhak and Sikkim of India, and in Pakistan.
