KATHMANDU, Oct 5: Randy William Berry has been appointed as the new American ambassador to Nepal on Friday.
“We are eagerly waiting to welcome Randy William Berry as the new American ambassador to Nepal here in Kathmandu,” US Embassy in Kathmandu tweeted.

Earlier, Berry had served as the first Special Envoy for the Human Rights of LGBTI Persons in the United States Department of State, as well as a Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor.
Alaina B. Teplitz, who has been serving as the United States Ambassador to Nepal since March 26, 2015, will precede Berry once he takes charge as the ambassador to Nepal.
Members of Parliament have drawn the government's attention towards creating an environment for the community school teachers, currently staging protests in Kathmandu, to return to their workplace.
