Rana was the vice chairman of the party while Lingden was coordinator of Eastern development region.The appointment was made as per the provision in the party's statute, said Vice Spokesperson Mohan Shrestha.
The general secretary post was vacant after the demise of the then general secretary Chandra Bahadur Gurung. Gurung lost his struggle against cancer in a US hospital.
