Rameshwar Chaudhary appointed minister in Sudurpaschim amid party dispute

His appointment comes amid internal party disagreements. Despite party Chairperson Ranjita Shrestha recommending lawmaker Kailash Chaudhary for the post, the provincial parliamentary party proposed Rameshwar instead.

KATHMANDU, May 18: Rameshwar Chaudhary, a lawmaker from the Nagarik Unmukti Party, has been appointed as the Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment in Sudurpaschim Province.


His appointment comes amid internal party disagreements. Despite party Chairperson Ranjita Shrestha recommending lawmaker Kailash Chaudhary for the post, the provincial parliamentary party proposed Rameshwar instead.

Rameshwar is considered close to the party patron Resham Chaudhary. Another lawmaker, Khusiram Dagoura Tharu, has sent a letter to Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah, urging him to halt the swearing-in, scheduled for this evening.


The incident has reportedly intensified tensions between Resham Chaudhary and Ranjita Shrestha.
