KATHMANDU, May 20: Light to moderate rain is expected in most parts of the country today. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), the weather is partly to mostly clear in the hilly areas of the country including Koshi, Madhesh, Lumbini, Karnali and other parts of the country.

The MFD's bulletin issued at 6 am indicated the likelihood of light rain accompanied by thunder, lightning, and gusty winds in some areas of Koshi, Madhesh, and Lumbini provinces.

According to the DHM, there is partial influence of local wind and westerly wind in Nepal.

The MFD has said that the weather will remain partly cloudy in the hilly areas of the country including Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces, while the remaining areas will remain partly cloudy this afternoon.

The MHD said that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder/lightning/wind in a few places in the hilly areas of the country and one or two places in the plains. The MFD has also informed that there is a possibility of light snowfall in few places of high hilly and mountainous areas of the country.

Similarly, partly cloudy to mostly clear skies will prevail in the hilly areas of the country including Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and other parts of the country tonight.

According to the DHM, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder/lightning/gusty winds at some places of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and at a few places in the rest of the hilly areas including Lumbini province. There is also a possibility of a heavy rainfall in one or two places of Koshi, Madhesh and Bagmati provinces.

According to the MFD, there is a possibility of light snowfall at one or two places in the high hills and mountainous areas of Koshi, Gandaki and Karnali provinces.
