Rain affects domestic flights

KATHMANDU, July 28: The continuous rain since some days back has affected the domestic flights in the country.


However, the international flights have not been affected by the rain.The rain has hampered flights in the mountainous and hilly regions.


The Tribhuvan International Airport office stated that flights especially to airports in the eastern hilly region and western region have been generally affected due to the bad weather.

All the international flights from the country's only international airport are operating regularly, it is stated.


General Manager at the TIA, Devananda Upadhyay said regular domestic flights have been somewhat affected due to rainy conditions.


Flights to Solukhumbu, Bhojpur, Taplejung and other destinations of the hilly region have been affected.


Meanwhile, the Meteorological Forecasting Division has stated that the visibility in other places except the eastern hilly region was good and there was no problem in operating the flights. Meteorologist Subas Rimal said there might be problem operating flights to Taplejung, Okhaldhunga among other places in the east as these places are witnessing cloudy condition with thick fog. He said the weather was normal in other regions.


Eight airlines companies operate flights in the domestic sector while 26 companies do so in the international sector. RSS
