KATHMANDU, Dec 5: Rabi Lamichhane, the chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), who was arrested in connection with the embezzlement of cooperative funds, has been sent to Pokhara. He was relocated overnight immediately after his statement was recorded in Chitwan. Yesterday, RSP supporters staged protests in Chitwan throughout the day, which also led to clashes.
Lamichhane's statement was recorded at the District Government Attorney's Office in Chitwan over two days, Tuesday and Wednesday. He has been accused of misappropriating savings funds from the Sahara Chitwan Multipurpose Cooperative.

Meanwhile, an arrest warrant has also been issued against Lamichhane in Parsa. Parsa District Court on Wednesday granted permission to arrest Lamichhane, along with 14 others, including former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, who was the then Vice Chairperson of Gorkha Media, for investigation into the misappropriation of savings from the Sano Paila Cooperative in Birgunj, according to Parsa Police Chief Kumud Dhungel.
The police have stated that Lamichhane will now be taken to Birgunj from Pokhara for his statement.
