KATHMANDU, Oct 30: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chairperson Rabi Lamichhane, who is in Nakkhu Prison on charges of cooperative fraud, said he wants to know the government’s position on the case filed by the previous administration.
Sending a message through party leader Pramod Neupane, who visited him on Wednesday, Lamichhane said that those who once called his arrest “unjust” should now speak up since they are in power.
“We trust journalist Rabi Lamichhane but not Home Minister Rabi...
He said, “I am seeking the current government’s position, not a favor. Those who said it was unjust yesterday should at least say something today.”
During the meeting, Lamichhane said the recent public mandate has made the RSP the fourth-largest political force in the country, which also puts on the party the responsibility of uniting alternative and reformist forces.
He said, “As the fourth force, RSP carries the duty to bring together alternative and transformative parties, groups, and individuals.” He added that the RSP is ready both to lead and to make sacrifices for the nation if needed.
Referring to the current political situation, Lamichhane made a symbolic remark: “Some believe that those who once got lucky should keep getting lucky, but coincidences don’t repeat. Some who just got their chance again crave another one. The greedy may buy tickets, but that doesn’t mean they’ll win again. Not every fish gets caught in the same net.”
He affirmed that his determination to make the RSP the leading political force of the country remains unchanged, regardless of temporary gains or losses.
