Quest Entertainment Private Limited, which has been screening all Kollywood, Bollywood and Hollywood cinemas through its two cinema halls, Jai Nepal and Kumari, inaugurates the first 3D curtains in Kathmandu today. And what else could have been better than to screen the internationally acclaimed Hollywood film, “Avatar”, once again on 3D projectors?
In the meantime, getting the equipments for 3D screening from abroad was certainly not an easy job to accomplish for Quest Entertainment. It was after Quest screened “Avatar” almost four months ago that it planned to bring 3D projectors in Nepal and start screening other 3D films. In around four months, Quest went through intensive workouts to get 3D curtains.“A special silver screen is required for 3D screening. And because it needed to be imported from Harkness Company, Florida, it was not an easy job for us,” Nakim Uddin, chairman of Quest Entertainment, shared and unveiled further, “The length of the screen is really huge and it cannot be folded to maintain it’s quality.
This got us into additional trouble. Because we could not fit the curtains into Nepali airlines, we had to first bring it to Singapore. Then, we brought the 3D projectors to Kolkata on ship and finally brought it to Kathmandu by road from Raxaul.”

The curtain alone is worth US$4,500 while the total cost of installation and transportation comes to approximately US$12,000.
Uddin is positive about getting audiences for 3D films at Jai Nepal and Kumari cinema halls, which will charge a little higher on tickets for 3D films than other regular films being screened. The balcony seat will cost you Rs 350.
Quest’s new multiplex in Sundhara will open from mid May.
