BHAKTAPUR, May 3: The earthquake victims here have been irate, as no political leader has heeded their woes although eight days have passed since the destructive earthquake.

The political leaders who haunt the villagers during the elections are now turning deaf ear to them at such tragedy. Anup Kasula from Sipadol said, "Political leaders have not come here to garner information about our damage. Are we only their voters?"

Laxman Puri from Sudal shared similar plight that most of the houses in his locality flattened in the earthquake; four persons lost lives; many cattle died. But no political leader has turned up for help.

Bhaktapur district has the Constituent Assembly members Narayan Man Bijukchhe and Prem Suwal from Nepal Workers and Peasant Party, while Anuradha Thapamagar and Rameshwor Dhungel from Nepali Congress and Mahesh Basnet from CPN-UML is the Ministry for Industry.

Not only the big leaders as CA member and minister, even the local leaders have not reached the villages.

Shova Gainda from Chhaling Gainda village said, "We are in shelter made of plastic. None has provided us tent. No government agency has arrived here to hear our woes." RSS
