Quake razed 122 schools in Khotang

KHOTANG, May 12: The April 25 devastating earthquake has razed 122 schools in Khotang district. According to the statistics maintained by the Khotang District Education Office, the disaster has destroyed 255 rooms of 122 schools in the district.

The teaching and learning activities have come into resumption after making arrangement of temporary learning centre in the quake-ravaged schools, said District Education Officer Ganesh Prasad Bhattarai. He further said, "The collection of details of loss is still on. The number of schools affected by quake may go up".


As many as 20,000 students are compelled to study languishing under the tent on vulnerable condition after the resumption of school education without repairing the devastated school buildings.

Currently, around 75,000 students are studying in 493 community schools in the district. RSS
