"We have perfumes with a price range from Rs 2,000 to 12,000," says Uddhav Bartaula, Business Manager of INA Center at Dharmapath. No5 Chanel costs around Rs 10-12,000 for 100-150ml at INA Center. The store offers five percent discount on purchase of perfumes. "The cost of the perfume can at times go beyond one´s imagination, but the customers here prefer perfumes that cost Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000," says Bartaula. Hugo Boss can be found in two aromas -- Dark Blue and Boss Grey for men and Deep Red and Women Red for women at a price range of Rs 3,000 to 3,500 for a 90-125ml bottle at the INA.
Bhatbhateni Department Store has perfumes costing up to Rs 13,500 by Chanel. The eau de perfume by Chanel is costlier in comparison to eau de toilette by the same brand. According to Goma Lama, in-charge at Bhatbhateni, the difference in price is because eau de perfume contains about 7-15 percent perfume concentration and provides long-lasting fragrance. Eau de toilette, however, contains only 1-6 percent perfume concentrate and its fragrance does not last long in comparison to eue de´s. If one´s fascination is with Eternity and Obsession by Kelvin Klein, then they can be purchased at a price of Rs 3,540 and Rs 2,580, respectively, for 75ml at Bhatbhateni. Hugo Boss and Aigner cost Rs 2,400 and 3,500, respectively, for 75ml.
"Chanel, Kelvin Klein-eternity and Agnier Man Two are popular amongst businessmen. Ladies, however, prefer Euphoria by Kelvin Klein, Agnier Two Feminine, and Cool Water by Davidoff. United colors of Beniton, and Davidoff are popular amongst youngsters and they cost around Rs 1,000-1,200," Says Bartaula.
Perfumes come for varied prices, however, one should not compromise with price while buying them. Cheaper and out-dated perfumes are very much likely to develop allergies. "It is necessary to check the tags and enquire the date. Many perfumes found in the market are replica versions. They usually have an "Our Version Of" written on the bottle so the buyer should always check this out," says Bartaula.
Season should also be considered while buying the perfumes. Wearing a perfume if you sweat a lot is a bad idea. This will cause the scent to turn out strong. Heavy fragrance such as Calvin Klein´s Euphoria, Cool water by Davidoff can best suit for casual use.
