The sports award is being organized each year to honor the achievements of sports personalities including players and coaches.[break]
With the addition of para-athlete award, eight different categories of awards have been included this year.
Five players each have been nominated for Pulsar best male, female, youth and popular player of the year awards, and also for best coach of the year. The winners will be finalized on the basis of their performance throughout the year. The popular player of the year will be selected through SMS voting.
There won´t be any nominations in other award categories--lifetime achievement award, special award and para-athlete award.
Karate gold medalist of the 11th South Asian Games Sunil Lama and Binod Shakya, Angbabu Lama of wushu, Rajendra Bhandari of athletics and Paras Khadka of cricket have been nominated for the best male player award.
The nominees for the best female player award are 11th SAG taekwondo gold medalist Ayasha Shakya, Ganga Adhikari of karate, Nary Thapa of cricket, Jamuna Gurung of football and Muna Basukala of table tennis.
Likewise, the nominees for the youth player of the year award are Anu Lama of football, Anu Adhikari of karate, Rahul BK and Nischal Pandey of cricket, and 11th SAG gold medalist Binita Maharjan of wushu.
Those nominated for coach of the year are Roy Luke Dias of cricket, Kwon Yeong Dal of taekwondo, Narayan Yadav of athletics, Prakash Lama of wushu and Deepak Shrestha of karate.
Likewise, the popular player of the year nominees are Rajendra Bhandari of athletics, Angbabu Lama of wushu, Santosh Sahukhala and Jamuna Gurung of football, Rupak Acharya of golf, Ayasha Shakya of taekwondo and Sharad Vesawkar of cricket.
The award function will be telecast live by Avenues Television.
