Public post holders urged to submit property details on time

KATHMANDU, July 17: The National Vigilance Centre has urged individuals holding the public posts to submit the personal property details on time.

According to Centre's information officer Dalnath Aryal, those people have been requested to submit the property details to the fixed stations within in the next 60 days beginning from Wednesday (the very first day of the current fiscal year).

The request has been made as per the Clause 50 of Corruption Prevention Act-2059 BS. It is applied to civil servants, government employees, teachers and security personnel. The centre will receive the details through the fixed channel. For example, details collected by the district coordination committees and local governments will be sent to the centre through the Office of Chief Minister and Council of Ministers in the respective state.

In the fiscal year 2074-75 BS, 17,127 people assuming the public posts did not submit the property details. Centre's undersecretary Aryal said only 50,478 employees had provided the details. Most are teachers among those violating the rule as they make up 11,157 in number. As per the provision, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority shall fine up to Rs 5,000 against the violator.
