PSC proposes raising civil service entry and retirement age

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has proposed setting the age limit for civil service entry at 32 years for men and 37 years for women, while raising the mandatory retirement age to 60 years.

KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The Public Service Commission (PSC) has proposed setting the age limit for civil service entry at 32 years for men and 37 years for women, while raising the mandatory retirement age to 60 years.


Speaking at the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives on Friday, PSC Chair Madhav Regmi submitted a proposal in writing. The 37-year entry age limit would also apply to inclusive categories such as persons with disabilities.

Currently, the mandatory retirement age is 58 years, which the PSC suggests increasing to 60 years.
