KATHMANDU, Aug 17: A scuffle broke out between anti-corruption activists and police during an anti-corruption demonstration in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu on Saturday.


The clash occurred during a protest organized by a joint civil movement of independent, nationalist, and alternative forces demanding the removal of the five-year statute of limitations for corruption cases.

The situation became tense after the demonstration started at Maitighar Mandala and reached New Baneshwar.


Chaos ensued when the youth shouted anti-corruption slogans and attempted to move towards the prohibited area, prompting the police to intervene. Here are some photos taken by Republica's photo journalist Dipesh Darshandhari:
