KATHMANDU, Nov 13: People staged a protest against the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact agreement at an inauguration program organized in Bhaktapur on Saturday. People present at the 14th annual assembly of Jai Bhimsen Saving and Loan Cooperatives shouted slogans against MCC, stating that the US government-funded project is not in the interest of Nepal.

Ukesh Kawan, a central member of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP), said that the MCC will not be accepted at any cost as it is being brought against the interest of the country and its people. Stating that the three major political parties including Nepali Congress (NC) CPN-UML, and CPN (Maoist Center) are in favor of MCC, he said that it was necessary to alert everyone as they can pass the project from the parliament anytime they want to.
