KATHMANDU, Dec 7: The throng of expectant crowd waited anxiously at the venue, i-Club, Durbarmarg, for the event to start, which finally did, at a ‘sharp Nepali-time’, later than scheduled.

But everything was forgiven and forgotten as one of the most respected rock bands in Nepal, Cobweb, took to jam on-stage.[break]

Releasing their 7th album ‘Project Namaste’ amidst an odd posh-crowd for a rock oriented album, on Monday, they sure did prove their mettle, proving yet again why they are one of the best live performers.

Cobweb which has been around since 1992 has released six albums prior to this release and have been famous for some legendary numbers like Mercedes Benz and Maryo ni Maryo.

Both the songs have been among the most covered songs in Nepal and have become an anthem amongst aspiring local rock-musicians.

This latest album has been the first project of the band after their 2004 album ‘Swing’. The group which has experimented with various genres of music, including Nepali rock, funk and blues, has produced a few of the top selling albums in Nepal.

Moreover, the band has been well noted for an electric stage presence, as they showcased on Monday. Beginning their program with a cover of Jimi Hendrix, they did the hopeful crowd justice by playing tracks from their new album.
