KATHMANDU, May 11: The ongoing prohibitory orders in the Kathmandu Valley have been extended by two more weeks.

A meeting of the chief district officers (CDOs) of the three districts of the Valley - Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur - decided to extend the orders by another 15 days.

The restriction orders in the Valley that were first enforced on April 29 for a week, were earlier extended by one more week. The ongoing orders were due to expire on May 12.

With this, the orders will remain in place until May 27.

According to a high level official, the implementation of the restriction orders will be made stricter amid the growing fears of the coronavirus disease. According to him, social functions such as weddings should be limited to only 10 people. “Weddings and other social events will not be allowed at party venues,” he added. SImilarly, grocery shops will remain open until 10 in the morning.
