KATHMANDU, May 28: The district administration offices of the three districts in the Kathmandu Valley have imposed a fresh round of prohibitory orders in view of the growing risk of the coronavirus.

The ongoing prohibitory orders, which are in place since April 29, were extended by a week from Friday. The orders will remain in force until June 3.

The local administrations of the three districts --- Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur - said that the implementation of the orders will be further tightened as groceries and departmental stores would remain closed while the individuals have been prevented from going morning and evening walks. However, fruits, vegetables, dairy and meat shops, and drinking water and gas supplies will be open till 9AM. Likewise, services from the government offices, public corporations and insurance companies have been suspended except for essential services.

The vehicles of government offices, corporations, banks and internet providing companies can provide their services from 9:30AM to 10:30AM and 5PM to 6PM.

Commercial banks have been allowed to open only three branches including the head offices while the development banks can open two of their branches including the head office. And, the offices should be run on rotational basis by mobilizing only 20 per cent of their employees.

With orders extended from Friday, police personnel are seen busy inspecting vehicles to ensure only the designated ones ply the streets.
