Private schools agree to refund fees, end selling stationery items

KATHMANDU, May 6: Private schools have agreed to refund illegally raised fees after continuous pressure of joint students unions after a five point agreement.



The agreement promises to


return increased fees;

ban selling of stationery materials and uniforms;


implement Fee Structure of Private Schools Directives, 2072;


increase transparency in scholarships set aside for those who cannot afford;



According to the agreement, Ministry of Education will initiate return of increased fee in coordination with local levels.  Following the agreement, student unions have called off all forms of protests. PABSON and N-PABSON representatives, student and parents organizations reached an agreement in the presence of Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, Minister for Education, Khagraj Baral, Secretary at the Ministry, Baburam Paudel, director general of Education Division and chief of metropolitan and municipality of Kathmandu valley
