DHARAN, August 28: A prisoner charged with incest has committed suicide by hanging himself in the prison bathroom.
The deceased has been identified as thirty-three-year-old Shridhan Bishwakarma. CCTV footage showed him going inside the bathroom but he did not emerge out of the bathroom. His body was found hanging by a red shirt which he had tied on the ventilation bars.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dhakendra Khatiwada said that the other prisoner informed about the incident after Bishwakarma did not return from the bathroom for a long time. “We have sent the body to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for post mortem” said DSP Khatiwada.
Bishwakarma had been accused of incest with this daughter and was arrested on August 20 by the police in Kathmandu and brought him to Dharan for further investigation.
