Prime in quarterfinals

KATHMANDU, July 27: Prime College advanced into the quarterfinals of the Morgan Cup Ninth Men´s National Basketball Tournament defeating Premier College at the Covered Hall of National Sports Council on Tuesday.



Prime finished as the runners-up of Group ´D´ to qualify for the next round. Group winners NASA had qualified for the quarterfinals earlier on Monday. [break]



Prime secured an easy 122-63 win but had to struggle in the third quarter. Prime made a good start with 28-6, 44-12 in the first two quarters. They suffered a 19-27 setback in the third quarter but that alone didn´t help Premier overturn the result. Prime bounced back in the last quarter with a 31-18 score.



In other matches of the day, Kaski, Sunsari and Nakhipot won their respective matches.



Kaski struggled past VS Niketan 63-61. Kaski were lagging behind in the first quarter 8-16 but they turned the tide in their favor scoring 15-11, 25-20, 15-14 in the remaining quarters.







Meanwhile, Sunsari thrashed Kavre 63-13 scoring 13-2, 15-7, 17-4, 18-0 in the four quarters.



Nakhipot edged out Navajyoti 75-40 in another match. They were ahead in all four quarters with 21-13, 16-15, 19-11, 19-1.
