Himalayan Sherpa into U-18 quarterfinals

KATHMANDU, June 7: Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC) has confirmed its place in the quarterfinals of the ongoing Lalit Memorial U-18 Football Championship from Group C on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, June 7: Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC) has confirmed its place in the quarterfinals of the ongoing Lalit Memorial U-18 Football Championship from Group C on Wednesday.



HSC defeated New Road Team (NRT) 6-4 and followed group winner Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) to the last four. 


After the conclusion of the group matches, JYC, HSC and Jagadamba Lumbini FC all have six points from equal three matches. However, JYC and HSC have booked their places in the quarterfinals on the basis of goals superiority.

In the match played at ANFA Complex, Abhinash Gurung scored hat-trick for HSC while Bel Prasad Gurung netted two goals and Bishal Tamang added another. Manish Paudel, Sanish Khadgi and Ashok Thapa Magar scored one goal each for NRT who failed to win single match in the championship.  


Similarly in another match of the day, Brigade Boys Club (BBC) registered 2-0 win over Morang Football Club (MFC). In the group D match, Roshan Neupane gave lead for BBC in 15th minute and Rohit Giri made 2-0 in 71st minute. However both teams have been already eliminated from the competition. 


Meanwhile, Saraswoti Youth Club (SYC) has replaced Chyasal Youth Club (CYC) in the quarter-finals from Group A as the later team has been disqualified from the championship. The ANFA organizing committee disqualified CYC following SYC's protest over CYC participating in the tournament with over-aged players.
