According to the Hindu mythology, Rato Machchhindranath is considered and worshipped as the God of rain and good harvest.[break]
Vice President Parmananda Jha, Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal, ministers and high ranking government officials were also present on the occasion.
A large number of people had also thronged the site to observe the festival.
