KATHMANDU, Aug 2: The government has announced a public holiday in the Kathmandu Valley on Sunday, August 4, to celebrate Bhoto Jatra.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the holiday is in honor of the chariot-pulling festival of the deity Rato Machhindranath, during which the traditional jewel-studded Nepali vest, known as the 'Bhoto,' is displayed.

A notice issued by the home ministry on Friday confirms that the public holiday will apply to the three districts in the Kathmandu Valley: Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur.
