KATHMANDU, July 2: President Ram Baran Yadav on Monday said the present government should unveil only a partial budget for the period before November 22.

Yadav made such a statement during a meeting with Sadbhawana Party (SP) Chairman Rajendra Mahato, a day after the Supreme Court (SC) asked the government to bring only one-third of the budget estimated for the next fiscal. [break]

"Should the government that has announced a new election bring a budget for the post-election period?" Mahato quoted President Yadav as saying during the meeting held at the latter´s office at Shital Niwas.

According to Mahato, Yadav said the present government should not bring a full budget as it has already announced the Constituent Assembly (CA) election for November 22.

Yadav maintained that he must be convinced by the ruling parties regarding the issue of budget. "If you all [leaders of the ruling parties] come to me after forging consensus on the budget, it will be easy for me," Mahato quoted Yadav as saying.

The president added that he would not take any step until the political parties arrived at consensus.
