According to a press statement issued by the Nepali embassy in Tokyo, President Dr Yadav was directly taken to the hospital upon his arrival at Narita International Airport. Prof Toshiaki Watanabe of the Graduate School of Medicine and Faculty of Medicine and Vice-Director of the University of Tokyo Hospital is supervising the team of specialists, who would attend to President Yadav.
Prof Watanabe told after meeting the president that the hospital would formally start tests and examinations from Wednesday.
Regarded as one of the world´s leading medical institutions both in terms of research and innovation, the University of Tokyo Hospital dates back to Edo Period in 1858 and was later merged with the University of Tokyo in 1877.
Yadav arrived Narita International Airport at 6:20 in the morning by the scheduled flight of Thai International from Bangkok. On his arrival, the president was welcomed by Ambassador Madan Kumar Bhattarai, his spouse Ambika Bhattarai and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
Members of the Nepali community along with representatives of various organizations based in Japan, including the President of the Non-Resident Nepalese Association Japan Chapter Om Gurung were also present on the occasion.
Speaking briefly with members of the Nepali community, the president assured that he was fine and had no problem as far as his health was concerned and there was absolutely no cause for worry. He added that he was looking forward to a thorough check-up at the University of Tokyo Hospital as the medical experts in Nepal advised him to have further consultations abroad.
