KATHMANDU, April 17: President Bidya Devi Bhandari left Kathmandu on Monday for a five-day state visit to India.
President is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on Friday.
Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Speaker Onsari Gharti and other high level government officials bade farewell to President Bhandari.
On the occasion, Nepal Army presented a guard of honour to her.
The President's delegation includes 34 members including Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, lawmakers, foreign affairs experts among others.
Against President's will, the government has decided to announce holidays on Monday and Friday.
President Bhandari is scheduled to meet Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday.
President Bhandari will visit Gujarat on Wednesday, Bhubaneshwar on Thursday and visit Odisha on Friday before returning to Nepal.
