BIRATNAGAR, July 19: Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala said on Sunday ruled out any possibility of integration of Maoist combatants into the Nepal Army.

"There is no mention of integrating Maoist combatants into the Nepal Army anywhere in the peace agreement. They will be rehabilitated in the society after they mend their ways," he said.

He said Maoists should mend their ways and the NC is planning to launch a campaign across the country to force the Maoists for reform themselves.

Koirala also said the government will last until the next general election is held even if the Unified CPN (Maoist) does not join the government.

"To join or not to join the government is up to the Maoists themselves. But, what I would say is that the present government will complete the task of writing the new constitution and it will hold the general election as well," Koirala told reporters before flying to Kathmandu after a three-day stay in his hometown Biratnagar.

He said as a saying goes "Dogs continue barking but an elephant keeps on moving", the government will not be distracted from its responsibility of accomplishing its major tasks -- writing constitution and holding general elections, among others.

Koirala claimed that he can´t trust U-CPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal´s words as there was no coherence between his words and deeds. "He speaks one thing but does just the opposite of that," he charged.
