TANAHUN, May 8: Preparations are underway to deploy polling officers and assistant polling officers in the district for the May 13 local elections.
Polling officers and assistant polling officers are being deployed in 297 polling stations of 136 polling stations in the district. Preparations have been made to train them and send them to their respective polling stations, according to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer, Tanahu.

The Office of the Chief Returning Officer has published the list of polling officers, assistant polling officers, assistants and office assistants to be deployed in all polling stations on Saturday. Appointment letters, ballot papers and necessary election materials would be handed over to the polling staff before they leave to their respective duty stations.
Chief Returning Officer Harish Chandra Dhungana said that the election staff should fulfill their responsibilities impartially. He also urged people to pay attention to the code of conduct of the election and fully abide by it.
Likewise, Chief District Officer Bishwa Prakash Aryal said that the security situation has been strengthened to make the election free and fair. He urged the people to participate in the election with confidence. The polling stations have been classified as highly sensitive, and general and security arrangements have been made accordingly, said CDO Aryal.
The training provides information on legal, practical and theoretical aspects of the local level election. It also outlines information on the work to be done before and after reaching the polling station, how to send the voters to cast their votes inside, how to bring them out safely after casting their votes, and what to do after the election.
A total of 2,376 personnel including polling officer, assistant polling officer, office assistant and others will be mobilized in the polling stations of the district. There will be 297 polling officers, 297 assistant polling officers, 594 assistants and 297 helpers to be mobilized for the election in the district. Another, 891 staffs have been appointed in the polling stations.
A total of 244,340 voters are eligible to vote in the near-coming local level elections.
