KATHMANDU, march 24: Weather experts have labeled the moderate rainfall witnessed in many parts of the country on Monday evening as a normal pre-monsoon activity. Meteorologists have forecasted the weather condition to remain similar for at least two more days.

“The brief spells of rainfall occurring during evening clearly explains the entry of the pre-monsoon season in Nepal. Drastic rise in temperature has multiplied the formation of clouds resulting into such moderate rainfall mostly at Central and Eastern part of the country,” said Subash Rimal, meteorologist at Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) of Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM).

According to Rimal, similar rainfall, mostly during evening hours, will be observed for at least next three days.

“This is one of the significant signs of the arrival of pre-monsoon season,” said Rimal.

Meanwhile, Rimal attributed the weather condition as the result of low atmospheric pressure and active conductive activity of air flow in both the Eastern and Central regions.

“The heat that has been increasing accelerates the upward movement of air. It results in the formation of massive clouds and the accumulation of moisture results in rainfall,” said Rimal.

As per the latest report, maximum temperature of Kathmandu valley has been recorded up to 27.5 degree Celsius with recent rainfall measured up to 4.2mm.

Among others, highest rate of rainfall measuring to 30mm has been recorded at Okhaldhunga.
