KATHMANDU, July 10: Amidst a gathering at Gurukul, old Baneshwar, poet Biplov Pratik recited a dozen of his poems. The program organized as part of the monthly poetry recitation series saw the presence of theater artists, journalists, poets and literary figures.

Poet and lyricist Basanta Thapa introduced the poet and recalled their first meetings. "I read his first poem in a literary magazine in Dharan. He was only eight years old then and it was a poem written to celebrate the 100th death anniversary of Vladimir Lenin," he said. [break]

He mentioned that through the years the age gap between them had become blurred and he now takes Pratik as his confidant. "I believe he was born to be a poet," Thapa said.

Pratik in his soft voice mesmerized the audience with both the recitation of his published and unpublished works. Theater actor Nisha Sharma and Sunil Pokharel, among others, also recited his lines.
