Nembang took the initiative after the Preliminary Draft Reports Study Committee of the CA handed over eight preliminary reports to him on Thursday. The committee had previously submitted the reports of other three thematic committees.
The Study Committee prepared a report after identifying repetitions, duplications, omissions, redundancy and contradictory provisions in the reports and also suggested ways to address these shortcomings. It has identified and prepared a list of around 225 contentious issues that need to be sorted out in the 11 thematic reports.
“The discussion in the meeting will mainly focus on issues and questionnaires pointed out by the Study Committee,” Nembang told myrepublica.com.
Nembang said he will urge the senior leaders to hold regular discussions to resolve contentious issues. The constitution has a provision for calling such a meeting of PP leaders if disputes surface in connection with drafting the statute.
After holding discussions at the meeting of PP leaders, the preliminary reports will be forwarded to the CC.
Nembang said the Study Committee has simplified the task after identifying and preparing a list of the subjects to be sorted out. “Now I will press the leaders to push the reports to the CC so as to take the statute-drafting process ahead,” he said.
The CA has not been able to accomplish any significant task for months even after the political parties extended the CA term by a year on May 28.
