Leaders discuss contentious issues

KATHMANDU, May 30: The meeting of the top leaders of the main three political parties discussed contentious issues of the peace process at the Constituent Assembly (CA) building on Sunday morning.



The meeting participated by leaders of the Unified CPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML focused on combatant management and the different interpretations on when should the Prime Minister resign inked in the agreement on Friday, according to Maoist vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha.[break]



"We proposed Maoist for formation of a taskforce, but they said they needed to discuss this in their party," NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi said.



Participating leaders include Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, vice-chairmen Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Mohan Vaidhya and Shrestha; Nepali Congress’ Ram Chandra Paudel and Ram Sharan Mahat; and CPN-UML’s chairman Jhala Nath Khanal, KP Sharma Oli, Bharat Mohan Adhikari and Pradeep Gyawali.



The three parties will meet again on Monday afternoon.



Meanwhile, a meeting of 10 parties of the ruling coalition at the Prime Minister’s residence concluded that PM Madhav Kumar Nepal should not resign until Maoists come up to ‘commitment to combatant management and peace process.’
