On the occasion, Powell voiced concern over the deteriorated environment for business development in the country and emphasized that the new government work for creating a more conducive environment to attract American and other investors to Nepal. Powell also stressed the need for accelerating development and other activities that would contribute to the country´s successful transition and socio-economic development. According to a press release from the Ministry of Finance, she also assured that US assistance to Nepal will continue with more intensity in the coming days.
Minister Pandey, for his part, thanked the government and people of the US for their partnership in Nepal´s socio-economic development, particularly in the areas of human rights promotion, capacity building, conflict resolution, health services and HIV/AIDS.
