KATHMANDU, July 5: Nepali Congress (NC) Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel on Sunday said the eight-province model incorporated in the draft of the statute is inappropriate.

Airing his view of the draft of the new statute at the meeting of the Constituent Assembly (CA), leader Poudel argued that forming six provinces will be best for Nepal.

Poudel said his party was branded as an anti-federalism party after it proposed provinces with boundaries time and again.

“Let’s promulgate the constitution with six provinces,” he said, “We can delineate provinces with boundaries.”

Saying that carelessness occurred while forging the 16-point deal, Poudel said parties shouldn’t hesitate to correct the weakness.

He proposed of sending the draft back to the Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (CPDCC) for improvements.
