JAJARKOT, June 8: With 90 per cent salt in a liter of water collected from Khara Stream, Jajarkot could have possibilities of becoming a salt mine.
A test conducted at the Water Engineering and Training Center, Kathmandu showed that the stream at Barekot rural municipality contained sodium chloride, according to Provincial Assembly member from Jajarkot district, Ganesh Prasad Singh.

Director General of the Mines and Geology, Rajesh Khanal, said that good result was seen in course of lab test. He said, "A team will be sent to carry out a field study there within a few days. Once a detailed study is done, the government must pay close attention to the findings.”
Singh said that there was also an iron mine at Barekot and that they had requested the Department of Mines and Geology for feasibility study to this regard.
