KATHMANDU, July 14: Sipradi Trading -- the authorized distributor of Tata vehicles - enjoys the highest share in Nepal´s commercial vehicles market. The company currently deals with four different categories of school buses -- Tata Winger, 32-seater Tata Marcopolo and 36-seater Tata Marcopolo.

Tata has been manufacturing a good range of school buses through a joint venture with Brazilian company Marcopolo. The 32-seater, 36-seater and 40-seater buses sold by Sipradi Trading belong to this group. [break]

“The buses manufactured by the joint venture of Tata and Marcopolo are better than buses from other companies from every prospective. This leaves with no competition at all,” said Santosh Khatiwada, senior sales manager of Sipradi Trading.

Sipradi Trading is selling more than 150 models of commercial vehicles that can be broadly divided into five different families -- trucks, tippers and tractors, bus and mini bus, mini trucks, pick ups and small pick ups.

Sipradi has been selling Tata vehicles for the last 26 years. Sipradi has offices and representations throughout the country. It sells Tata´s range of heavy, medium and light commercial as well as passenger vehicles.

Sipradi has 125 network channels throughout the country and it is the largest owned network of sales service and spares centers, according to Khatiwada.

Tata Winger is a small 14-seater vehicle ideal to carry small children. This bus is mostly used by Montessori Kindergarten. The vehicles have necessary safety features like child safety lock on sliding doors, load sensing proportion valve and side impact beam on both sides making it proper vehicles for children.

The other buses in the Tata Marcopolo series have almost same specifications only varying with the size. The special features of the buses are comfortable and spacious interiors, reliable performance, provide higher mileage as it has stretched panel used and delivers great power.

“We presently command 45 percent share in school bus market in the country. Within fiscal year 2010/11, we target to increases our market share to 60 percent not only in the school bus sector but in total body built buses,” Khatiwada said.
