A policeman on duty said Chaudhary crawled into the office at around 12:30 am after being attacked in uniform. “He was soaked with blood and his throat was slit,” the policeman said.
He was immediately taken to the National Medical College where he breathed his last while undergoing treatment. Chaudhary is survived by a wife, three daughters and a son.
A police team reached his home in Rangpur-4, Rautahat, at 6 am Sunday and brought his wife Kunti Devi, father Bal Dev and nephew Manoj to the Narayani Sub-regional Hospital in Birgunj. The body was taken to his village at 11 am after postmortem for funeral.
Police have intensified search for the killers. The Chaudhary family, however, is miffed with the attitude of police. The distraught wife, who reached the Parsa District Police Office at 8:15 am, was not heard despite an hour of crying, according to Manoj.
“Wailing, she started to walk toward the hospital. Passers-by started to inquire her about her wailing but the police didn´t send a vehicle to take her to the hospital,” Manoj said.
