Policeman stabbed at his own office in Sarlahi

SARLAHI, Feb 2: A traffic policeman was stabbed at his own office in Nawalpur, Sarlahi, on Friday. According to Police Inspector Madan Thapa, the Chief of the District Traffic Police Office, an assailant attacked Constable Pramod Mahato of Gaushala Municipality-3, Mahottari, with a knife at the District Traffic Police Office, Nawalpur.

SARLAHI, Feb 2: A traffic policeman was stabbed at his own office in Nawalpur, Sarlahi, on Friday. According to Police Inspector Madan Thapa, the Chief of the District Traffic Police Office, an assailant attacked Constable Pramod Mahato of Gaushala Municipality-3, Mahottari, with a knife at the District Traffic Police Office, Nawalpur.


Thapa stated that Mahato was targeted with a knife when he entered the office after handing over a receipt to a driver for paying the penalty for a traffic rule violation. The vehicle was found violating traffic rules during the course of traffic checking along the East-West Highway.

The assailant has been identified as Yamamuddin Deman of Rajpur-1, Rautahat. He was riding a motorcycle with the registration number Na 19 Pa 2555, said Police Inspector Om Prakash Yadav, who is the Officiating Spokesman at the District Traffic Police Office, Sarlahi.


Yadav mentioned that Deman, who attempted to flee after stabbing Mahato, was promptly taken under control. He has been detained in police custody at Lalbandi. Mahato sustained injuries to the forehead, neck, hands, and abdomen due to the knife attack, as per police reports. He has been transferred to National Medical College, Birgunj, for advanced treatment following initial care at a local health facility.


Further investigation is currently underway in this case, according to the police.
