Police use force in Kanchanpur injuring five students

MAHENDRANAGAR, March 10: Five students were injured when police Tuesday used force on the nine-day student agitation demanding establishment of a university in Kanchanpur.



Police took the students inside the district administration office and gave them a thorough thrashing, seriously injuring Nepal Student Union (NSU) Kanchanpur president Tarka Raj Bhatta and All Nepal Free Student Union (ANFSU) Kanchanpur president Madhav Panta and secretary Lokendra Bohora. The injured students, including ANFSU Kanchanpur member Durga Bhatta, are being treated at Mahakali Zonal Hospital.



Irate students protesting and burning tires at nooks and corners of the town in retaliation have affected the holi festival. They also torched a jeep at the office of the town development committee.
