Police to uncover Uma Singh case soon

JANAKPURDHAM, Aug. 7: It is informed that the process of investigation into the murder of journalist Uma Singh has reached in the final stage.



At a discussion programme organised by Mahila Awaj here Saturday, Superintendent of Police Sarbendra Khanal said police were successful in getting achievements during the investigation into Singh´s killing. [break]



"We will make public the achievements of the investigation soon," he informed.



Senior journalist Rajeshwar Nepali said the presence of women journalists in the Nepali media is not inspiring after the murder of Singh.



Former central member of the Federation of Nepali Journalists ( FNJ) Himanshu Chaudhary said self-censorship has increased in the Nepali media due to lack of security.



FNJ former Dhanusha district president Ashok Rauniyar said anti-media practices have been prevailed in the Nepali media following the lack of security.



Journalists Ajay Kumar Jha, Nawal Yadav, Shailendra Jha, Jagdish Jha, Kiran Karna, Atish Mishra and Praveen Saha stressed on the need for maintaining security to prevent women journalists from quitting their profession.



Organisation´s chairperson Monika Jha chaired the programme.
