Police from the Narayani Zonal Police Office, Birgunj, seized the prohibited drug from a sugarcane farm of Mubarak Miyan Ansari of Bagahi VDC-7 in the district at 3:30 am. The seized hashish was hidden in the sugarcane farm belonging to Ansari.[break]
According to Senior Superintendent of Police at the Office, Sarvendra Khanal, police also confiscated 13 kilograms of marijuana powder stored at the sugarcane farm. The marijuana powder was brought from Makawanpur for smuggling to India.
Making the confiscated drugs public today, Khanal said that preliminary investigation has indicated the involvement of Ansari, who had already served a jail term for 11 years and five months on the case of murder and robbery, as the drugs were found from his sugarcane farm, and search for him is underway.
